Wow.

So, lately I really love Fleet Foxes. If you haven't heard this band, you should check them out. Anyway, I was looking up youtube videos, because I wanted to post one of their songs in a post about good "writing music." I had a particular song in mind, "Tiger Mountain Peasant Song." It is haunting (as is most of their stuff), unique, and powerful, (especially toward the end)! I thought it was perfect... but then I found a cover by two young girls who call themselves "First Aid Kit." I didn't expect it to be more than amateur.

Boy was I wrong!

I don't know who these girls are. I have never heard of First Aid Kit. But, I think their version of the song is just as good, if not better than the original! Now, I'm a Fleet Foxes fan, so this is a rather extraordinary statement on my part. But it is undeniable.

Please Please Please listen to these girls. If you aren't drawn in at the beginning, give it time. The chorus is fantastic! Their harmonies are gorgeous! And, the end... just, wow!

If their original music is anywhere near as good as this cover, I expect big things from them.

And, because it is still absolutely fantastic and worth listening to also: the original, by Fleet Foxes.

And, if you find the opportunity, you should check out "White Winter Hymnal" because it is another fantastic song by Fleet Foxes and is one of my favorite driving songs.

I just accidently stumbled onto your blog. I love these girls! Thanks for putting this out there.

Also, I live on Okinawa, on Kadena Airbase, in fact, and felt for the lost poet. I am again and again reminded: It's a small world.
